Job description

St Helens College & Knowsley Community College is looking to appoint Progress Coaches to support our curriculum and students.

In this key role, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of the tutorial programme, delivering group sessions and providing 1:1 support for a caseload of students. You will be responsible for ensuring that all students have challenging personal development targets and monitoring progress towards these targets. In addition to this, you will work closely with subject teachers to ensure that students have challenging academic/vocational targets, and that they make the required progress to meet or exceed these targets.

The ideal candidates will provide high quality advice and guidance, to assist students in making informed career choices, and supporting them to prepare for their next steps, is key.

The successful candidate will employ a range of strategies to effectively support and challenge students who are at risk of dropping out, or not achieving, including liaising with subject teachers, parents/carers and other stakeholders, to plan and implement appropriate interventions that will improve attendance and engagement.

This is an important role for the College, and the College will invest in your professional development to ensure you are fully equipped to succeed. This will include access to a range of CPD opportunities, including formal coaching/mentoring qualifications, careers information advice and guidance training and other CPD to support you in the role.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, effective time management, the ability to establish and maintain highly effective partnerships with key stakeholders and a flexible approach to work

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised and be able to demonstrate a real passion for improving student outcomes and the overall student experience.
