We are delighted to represent a prestigious, multinational manufacturing organisation in their appointment of a Strategic Buyer into a newly created role, supporting a growing capital projects portfolio. The role holder will work closely with the capital engineering projects team, focused on the development and implementation of sourcing strategies to ensure timely material delivery, meeting customer expectations as well as optimising financial performance and driving profitability. This business offers complex engineering solutions to several sectors and the Strategic Buyer will develop the sourcing strategy for projects, identifying and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, mitigating risk, whilst liaising with the project engineering team to ensure a full understanding of the technical, commercial and timing requirements for each project from RFQ through to successful delivery (international customer base, project values ranging from 10,000s to multimillion £). Spend c. £3m Key skills CIPS qualified or equivalent degree level qualification MCIPS preferred Professional procurement specialist with previous experience as a strategic buyer of engineered products and components in an engineering or manufacturing setting Knowledge of manufacturing processes machining, fabrication, welding Experience in the sourcing of pressure vessels is highly desirable With demonstrable achievement in strategic procurement ideally of engineered components Experience in sourcing, and auditing suppliers, formulating sound agreements and with strong understanding of contract law Previously involved in procurement on an international scale with knowledge of global markets Strong commercial acumen, highly numerate and with superb negotiation skills Some travel to other EMEA locations will be required on an infrequent basis Ultimately, we seek an accomplished procurement professional who will relish the challenge of building a reliable and risk free supply chain for major projects. This role will be based in Littlehampton and is mainly office based with one day per week home working if preferred.
