About the role:

To make publicly accessible a range of Middle Eastern archaeological assemblage collections in support of the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Organisation of large, excavated Archaeological Assemblages (particularly Mesopotamian, Levantine and Iranian sherds and stone tools) in preparation for registration.
  • Registration of excavated assemblages onto the Museum’s collections management system MI+.
  • Photograph selected artefacts and upload onto image management system Odin.
  • To assist in making the Archaeological Assemblages from the Middle East, and knowledge about them, publicly accessible via publication, digital, display, social media and broadcast
  • Contribute to other curatorial duties as assigned by line manager.

About you:

  • MA/MSc (or equivalent) in the archaeology of one or more areas of the ancient Middle East
  • Experience of documenting Archaeological Assemblages.
  • Experience of recording Archaeological Assemblages on databases
  • Knowledge of ancient Middle Eastern archaeology
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experience of archaeological excavation
  • Open, effective communicator with good spoken and written English
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
