Project Engineer

Proud to be a Green Energy company we are growing our development team in Scotland; working alongside our Senior Business Development Manager we are looking to appoint a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing early feasibility work, technical evaluation, through project design and environmental assessment, support the submission of planning applications and on into pre-construction.

This role will be mainly focused On-Shore Wind and BESS with some Solar PV in Scotland & Wales.

Responsibilities:

• Support planning, management and delivery of projects at all stages of development from site evaluation through to pre-construction
• Managing and reporting on project risks
• Supporting planning applications
• Managing environmental, technical and supporting commercial interactions
• Supporting the Senior BD in liaising and negotiating with landowners alongside a Land and Estates Manager on both development sites and access routes
• Consulting with planning authorities, statutory consultees, stakeholder groups and the wider public, including presentations at public meetings and effective co-ordination of community and stakeholder relations
• Management of external consultants - technical and environmental
• Input to the project design process as part of the project design team, including technology selection and outline engineering designs
• Prepare briefing reports for internal decision making
• Experience and understanding of energy markets and issues pertinent to delivery of renewable energy projects is highly desirable

The Person:

We are looking for a Project Engineer with a minimum of 2 years On-shore Wind experience.

The ideal candidate will be professional and of mature character, enthusiastic, on-shore wind experience but willing to learn on other technologies (solar, batteries & hydrogen) and who has a genuine interest in renewable energy. Candidates require excellent analytical, technical, numerical, presentational and interpersonal skills and should be comfortable working autonomously.

They should be able to build strong client relationships and demonstrate a real enthusiasm for the role. A willingness to share their experiences and knowledge with their peers and senior team, essentially a real team player.

Key Skills:

• Project management
• Managing conflict and negotiation
• Knowledge of the wind essential (solar, batteries & hydrogen beneficial)
• Ideally have experience of using and interpreting GIS mapping
• High level of competence in basic office software such as word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel)

Technical and Professional Skills:

• Experience of the UK planning system and EIA Regulations
• Knowledge of overseas planning and regulatory systems for renewables is desirable
• Experience of managing environmental impact assessments and preparation of Environmental Statements
• Proven track record in the technical development of wind projects
