SALARY UP TO £65,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
Our client is a major supplier delivering a wide range of multi-disciplinary services across the rail infrastructure and they are now seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their ever expanding team.
Job Purpose
The Project Engineer will be responsible for the efficient and effective day to day organisation and control of the project and undertaking the work in accordance with the requirements of the Project Plan. Also, to ensure that all projects under your control adhere to all NR/LUL, department standards and safety procedures.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ensuring that sections of the project are managed in a safe manner and meets the requirements for health, safety and the environment as described in the Project Plan and associated documents.
- Liaison with the Client as appropriate.
- Monitoring any corrective and preventive actions that are needed to correct any non-conformances.
- Liaison with the Quality/Safety Manager regarding the effectiveness of the Management System.
- Assisting in the formulation of checklists.
- The quality of all materials placed in the structure both the materials themselves and their positioning within the structure.
- Preparing the weekly programme of work in conjunction with the site manager and completing the daily diary of all activities.
- Ensuring, in conjunction with the Site Supervisor/Manager and COSS that safe working methods are always employed on site.
- Attend meetings with the Contracts Manager, Contracts Surveyor and any other staff deemed appropriate to a particular contract. Discuss the agenda for this meeting and implement the outcome of the meeting as recorded in the minutes.
- Planning and producing the project programme and ensuring that all necessary resources are scheduled and available in good time to comply with the programme.
- Assisting in the production of the Work Package Planning, which implements the company policy, the duties of the relevant staff, and which in conjunction with the activities on the project programme, highlights risks and the means of dealing with them.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Comply with the company’s HSQE policies and all other company policies applicable to the effective discharge of your role.
- Be familiar with all safety requirements relevant to your post.
- Lead in the effective communication & implementation of safety related initiatives that apply to the works under your control.
- Attend client and company safety meetings/briefings as required, ensuring full attendance from your team (s) where you have responsibility to do so.
- Comply with fatigue management guidelines.

- Have good interpersonal communication (verbal, written and listening) skills, that will support the delivery of your duties and able to clearly explain tasks and inspire others with varying backgrounds.
- Have high standards of attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
- Show initiative and know when to escalate issues for Supervisor/ Management support.
- Be a team player with regards to sharing information, helping to resolve a problem, working towards common goals, properly dividing tasks between team members, etc.
- Have the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
- Have knowledge of Stepping and Gauging and experience of working within the rail sector.
