Kirklees Council is looking for two experienced Project Managers to join the Major Projects Service within the Transportation and Highways fields. The primary focus will be to develop business cases and progress Major Transport Schemes, particularly those aimed at sustainable travel, through to the construction stage. This role is crucial in planning, designing, appraising, and delivering large-scale transportation programmes and projects that align with the council’s objectives for transportation, climate change, environmental improvement, place shaping, and economic growth.
Day to Day of the role:- Manage one or more of the council’s Major Transport Schemes, ensuring effective and consistent project management.
- Accelerate project delivery by managing scope, objectives/outcomes, risks/issues, and cross-programme dependencies.
- Develop business cases for external funding for transport projects consistent with assurance frameworks.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across Council services and partners.
- Provide strategic guidance on transportation-based programmes and projects.
- Coordinate with colleagues, public and private sector organisations, commissioned consultants, and transport operators to deliver successful major highway and Transport Schemes.
- Recognised substantial technical expertise and experience in a discipline such as Regeneration, Housing, Transportation, Flood Management, Skills, Employment, support to Businesses or cultural development.
- Considerable experience managing and coordinating large and complex projects, including budget monitoring and contract management.
- Experience of commissioning projects with external and internal providers, working collaboratively and in partnership.
- Commercial awareness and business acumen in relation to public, private, and third sectors.
