Description
Terms: Fixed Term Contract to 14th April 2025
The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games were a catalyst for change and a platform to regenerate East London.
Much has been achieved, and twelve years on a group of seven organisations now based at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have come together to form a new, ‘inclusive innovation district’, that will create better urban futures not just for our local communities but with application for cities around the world.
SHIFT, the new identity for the innovation district, reflects the collective shift that society needs to make to accelerate a thriving, fair and resilient future in our cities.
The Founding Partners that have come together to establish SHIFT are from across the public, private and academic sectors. They are: London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), Lendlease, HereEast, Plexal, University of the Arts London (UAL) and University College London (UCL).
These partners are united behind the joint mission to shift the way we do innovation, what it’s focused on, who gets to innovate and who shares in the benefits of innovation.
SHIFT will become the UK’s first real-world urban testbed of its kind, uniting innovators from community, business and academia. We are all focused on tackling everyday problems facing cities and their citizens today, such as climate resilience, health and wellbeing, and movement of people and goods.
Located in the growing and diverse heart of east London, SHIFT will explore, test and improve these kinds of global scale issues through addressing everyday challenges locally – through technology trials, practical proof of concept projects and research partnerships that have widespread implications for cities around the world.
We’ve made good headway on things like zero carbon last mile delivery, tackling air and noise pollution, testing autonomous vehicles and micro-mobility infrastructure and improving mental and physical outcomes for local people. We’re raring to go in this next phase, and using the partnership, physical, social and economic assets at the Park we will create a demonstrator district for better urban futures.
Is it for you?
We’re looking for a passionate and driven person who will lead Innovation projects for the SHIFT team. We’re looking for someone who brings a blend of project management expertise and hands on event delivery expertise. This is an exciting role, that supports delivery of impactful innovation projects for the SHIFT team, whilst fostering collaboration and supporting the development of an innovation community for a diverse set of stakeholders around QEOP.
