Project Manager - (Ex-military)

Our client are a Temporary Power Solutions business serving various industries with a UK wide reach. They provide the power for Events, Film & TV, Construction, Facilities Management, Emergency Back Up and much more.
They are seeking a highly organised and experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage power projects from start to finish. The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating and leading a team of technicians and engineers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Power is just about the most important thing on an event site.
Almost everything is reliant on power for operation, and without it, the basic safety of the attendees and staff cannot be guaranteed.
On some sites, they will deploy over 120 generators powering all types of site infrastructure like Bars, Stages, Offices, Accommodation, Food Traders, Communications, CCTV, Site Lighting etc etc.
Each generator will power an associated electrical system, some are very simple, and others will be incredibly complicated. This requires extensive planning, an in-depth knowledge of electrical safety, temporary electrical systems and capabilities and limitations of the equipment.
To keep the generators running we may be distributing somewhere close to a quarter of a million litres of fuel throughout the project, every litre of fuel distributed needs to be planned, recorded accurately, and accounted for.
You will be responsible for recruiting, managing, feeding and accommodating a team of up to 30 specialists who will install the electrical systems and manage each area throughout the event.
You will live and work on the site for the entire duration of the project, sometimes up to 6 weeks.
To be successful in all these areas, you will need to be a confident, self-disciplined, organised, experienced leader of people with a technical understanding of power systems and a willingness to take accountability and responsibility for the overall progress of each project.
Further responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations and to gather and record information related to each project.
- Develop project plans, schedules, resource allocation, and budgets.
- Identify and manage project risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Coordinate and lead project team members, including technicians, engineers, plant operators, and external contractors.
- Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure project success.
- Ensure all project deliverables are completed on time and to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Manage project budgets and ensure that all costs are tracked and controlled.
- Manage the storage and distribution of fuel on each project by following the company methodology.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality and environmental regulations.
- Ensure all projects are completed in a timely manner and that all project documentation is complete and accurate.
- Installation, commissioning and decommissioning of equipment on customer sites.
- Other relevant duties as required by the Operations team.
To be considered for this role, you must be based in the Southwest of England and be willing to undertake regular travel around the UK and Internationally at various times of the year to support our major projects.
Essential attributes:
- A degree in engineering, a qualification in project management or a high level of experience in a similar role.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a reputable Generator Hire organisation or similar relevant experience.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Possess a high level of Self-Discipline.
- Impeccable Attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in maintaining, building and enriching business relationships.
- Have an understanding that the Live Events industry regularly operates with un-sociable hours.
- Full driving license.
- Fluent English speaker.
What we’ll offer you:
- to £50,000 per annum dependant upon experience.
