Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project SHE Advisor, to join our team based at our Beverage factory in Tutbury. You will support the factory on all matters related to Health, Safety, and sustainability under the projects umbrella, you will be Having the functional responsibility for SHE performance onsite during construction, driving compliance with relevant legislation and Nestlé standards, and SHE risks management.


Promoting SHE values and creating ownership & engagement at all levels from site management through all contractors and sub-contractors. Guiding the provision for SHE services to manage site activities.


The Nestlé Tutbury Factory in Derbyshire is one of the largest Nestlé factories in Europe after circa £500 million investment over the last few years. The factory is a Centre of excellence for Nescafé products around the world producing freeze-dried, spray dried and pod coffee technologies and is at the forefront of coffee innovation globally. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved.


A day in the life of a Project SHE Advisor


  • Ensure compliance with SHE legislation and Nestlé SHE standards and principles by ensuring SHE is integrated into project planning, operational reviews, design-for-construction, and contractor management.
  • Support the team to ensure that Machinery safety, Ergpro / manual handling, and Noise level requirements are integrated into all phases of projects.
  • Develop projects SHE Management Plan in alignment with the project roadmap and communicate to project management and contractors. Ensure the plan includes effective risk management procedures for workers orientation & training, risk assessment, method statements, lifting plans, permit to work, emergency planning, etc. Modify the Plan as required during the project to reflect changes in risk.
  • Ensure implementation of site risk management procedures. Ensure that specific safe working practices are in place with a focus on high frequency risks (eg slips, trips, falls, injuries from sharp points and edges) and high hazard tasks (eg work at height, critical lifting, hot work).
  • Ensure compliance with the CDM regulations working and advising the Principal Designer and the Principal Contractor.
  • Ensure the project sites have secure and safe access & egress routes, in addition to the correct signages with relevant risks.
  • Ensure high standards of health & hygiene conditions for workers, with appropriate emergency medical response.
  • Ensure training, coaching and trusted guidance & support on SHE is provided to workers, contractors to develop their knowledge of risk management, legislation, and duties.
  • Co-ordinate internal & external resources to deliver high quality and efficient SHE supports, eg exposure monitoring, health promotion, health surveillance, training.
  • Representing the SHE Function & local point of contact for all contractor management enquiries.
  • Undertake Ergopro / Manual handling assessment, as well as machinery risk assessments, ensuring full compliance to Zero access & modes of intervention upon installation.

  • Relevant PUWER and Machinery Safety Experience
  • A working knowledge of the CDM Regulations
  • Previous experience of working in FMCG and projects environment
  • Previous experience of safety management
