Job description

Projects and Research Coordinator

This role is designed to support and coordinate the Department of Education’s work in inspiring teaching excellence across GBS and embodying the vision of GBS as a leading higher educational institution for mature students in the UK. The post holder will contribute to developing a culture which values teaching, learning and Research-informed practice.

Main Responsibilities

Projects 

  • To plan, execute and supervise project action plans and timely project delivery (eg for Teaching Observations, the Research Mentoring programme and Lecturer’s Portfolios) in order to support the team to meet strategic objectives/KPIs  
  • To work closely with the Dean of Education and the Department of Education, Learning and Teaching to ensure efficient project implementation  
  • To assist in the formation/development of papers, policies, and guidelines across the Department for Education, Learning and Teaching portfolio 

Research 

  • To seek out and support research bid writing 
  • To monitor, create and update content on the INfER SharePoint site  
  • To liaise between the research ethics committee and Research-active staff to ensure an effective and well-tracked process, including accurate records of all documents pertaining to research ethics and data management plans 
  • To provide research support within the Department (eg compile, manage, and analyse information data sets; diarise research interviews; and collate consent forms) for Department-led research projects 

Tracking and reporting 

  • To compile and submit project status reports to management and other stakeholders 
  • To present, track and efficiently manage data for the department regarding observations/training sessions and any ongoing projects 

Events 

  • To facilitate with the planning and execution of all the Department of Education, Learning and Teaching events (eg Roadshows, InFER Conferences and seminars) and to provide any necessary administrative support pertaining to these events.  

Requirements

  • Project management skills, including planning, execution, and supervision
  • Organisational skills to support the team in meeting strategic objectives and KPIs
  • Collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience in forming and developing papers, policies, and guidelines within an educational portfolio
  • Research support experience, such as knowledge of research mentoring and ethics and experience liaising with ethics committees
  • Ability to manage and update research data and other content on platforms like SharePoint and understanding of data protection principles
  • Skills to coordinate research interviews and managing consent forms
  • Ability to efficiently manage and track data related to activities such as observations, training sessions, and ongoing projects
  • Proficiency in data analysis and presentation and strong reporting skills to compile and submit project status reports to management and stakeholders
  • Event planning and coordination experience, including facilitation and execution
  • Administrative skills to provide support for departmental events
