Enjoy travelling? Our depot is in Crewkerne, but the work can be anywhere in the region, and you will need to travel to site daily. Have you got a background in utilities or groundworks with transferable skills?

What you'll do

We describe ourselves as a "community within a community" here at Wessex Water, and the R&M Projects team is no exception. We provide a vital service that helps to ensure we supply water to 1.4 million customers, and we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join the team.

As one of our R&M Projects Supply Team leaders, working in the Network Utilities team, you'll carry out a variety of repairs and maintenance activities to the water supply network, some complex and some routine. Making sure that it meets the highest quality and customer service standards. This will involve installing network meters and PRV's complexes, challenging burst water mains, large diameter mains work and temporary works when required, as well as landscaping and general building works to finish sites to a high standard.

You'll be working within a great team, outdoors, dealing with different challenges every day and providing a vital service to our customers to ensure a sustainable water supply for the future. This job involves operating as part of a two- person team.

What you'll need

  • Valid driving licence and ability to tow a trailer over 750kg.
  • Current Streetworks ticket.
  • Good knowledge and experience of R&M activities including large diameter and high-pressure mains.
  • Experience of ground works inc. concrete finishing.
  • Experience of driving 360 excavators above and below 10 Tonne and Dumper below 10T Dumpers.
  • Experience in setting up temporary works, 2-6m in depth.
  • Confidence to set up a safe site and lead the team to complete planned works safely, whilst staying on schedule.
  • Ability to communicate and be confident using IT equipment.

Current certification for the below is advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate:

  • Abrasive Wheels, Asbestos Awareness, Cable Avoidance, EUSR (Water Hygiene), Face Fit
  • Manual Handling, Confined Spaces, Forward tipping dumper 180 10t or below
  • Excavator as a crane, Slinger/Signaller, SHEA Water,
  • Working at heights, Fire Warden, Road Roller, Pipe Trailer, SSSTS
  • EUSR Categories 3, 4, and 5 install, inspect, and remove timber, steel, and proprietary excavation support systems.

It is important to understand that you will be required to participate in out of hours planned works when needed and be flexible enough to be able to stay on, to keep the job on schedule or when thing don't go to plan.
