As a Propulsion Test Facilities Engineer, you will be part of the Project Support & Facilities team who cover EV powertrain, hybrid, battery and combustion engine testing projects and you will ensure that customer projects are set-up and supported quickly and smoothly at both Milton Keynes sites.

ABOUT YOU


As a Propulsion Test Facilities Engineer, you will be self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges as well as being comfortable owning, adapting, and delivering plans against fast changing requirements and tight timescales.

Required skills and experience

  • Development, configuration, modification and debugging of test cell control & data acquisition software (e.g N.I Labview, Veristand, SierraCP Cadet, AVL Puma, FEV Morphee etc.)
  • Strong technical understanding and hands on experience of test cells/facilities/chambers, measuring equipment, instrumentation and test rigs.System communications experience - CAN, Flexray, LIN, Modbus, RS232/485 and other communication protocols.
  • Knowledge, use and integration of instrumentation such as power analysers, oscilloscopes, fuel measurement, emissions/particulate measurements systems etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in software development in any HLL language (e.g Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB, C# etc).
  • Capable of extracting key actions/issues and determining required action


The following would be beneficial although not essential:

· Knowledge of ABB and Unico inverter drive control

· ICE & EV powertrain, battery simulators and hybrid systems

· Dynamometers, Exhaust & Ventilation systems

· Chillers & plant

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY


This role became available due to significant growth and expansion onto a second UK site. The facility has benefitted from major recent investments delivering some of the highest specification test cells available in Europe today, it consists of 32 self-contained test cells specified to support a wide variety of fired engine, transmission, full powertrain and high voltage hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) systems testing.


Key responsibilities:

  • Working with Test/Project Engineers to derive and deliver technical requirements for customer projects
  • Technical ownership of test cell and equipment configuration for each project: Instrumentation, Calibration, Equipment set-up, H&S sign off, Project specific risk assessments, Fault finding and Rectification
  • Standardisation of test set-up equipment, configuration, and procedures
  • Commissioning of new equipment
  • Responsibility for mobile test equipment procurement, maintenance, calibration, and configuration
  • Contribute to department KPI data as agreed with Project Support & Facilities Manager to drive a step-change in project set-up times
  • Manage external suppliers of critical equipment and services to ensure efficient equipment operation
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

Based in Milton Keynes. Permanent. Full time. 37 hrs.

Mon-Fri: Core hours 32.5 (8am-3pm) & other 4.5 hrs as required; 30 min lunch break.
