Job description

If you are currently working towards a post graduate qualification, you will be paid at band 4 and we expect for this this to be completed within 6 months of post commencing at which point the post holder would move to band 5.
The post holder will work within the Paediatric Psychology service, providing telephone, video and face to face assessments as well as evidence based interventions with supervision from the Senior Clinical Psychologist. This will include a range of therapeutic self management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate psychological problems, as well as the administration and teaching of psycho-educational classes to groups of parents and children and young people.
Other key roles are to assist in, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and project work.
This post involves working independently according to a work plan agreed with a qualified clinical psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) named MICE (Mental Health Intervention for Children with Epilepsy)T, designed to improve the treatment of mental health problems in young people with epilepsy. Many children with long-term physical health problems have mental health needs, and children with neurological problems are particularly likely to have emotional and behavioural difficulties. These psychological problems often have a significant impact on both the child and their family, and their school experience. MICE has recently been demonstrated to be effective in a large research study.
The post holder will work alongside the Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to deliver the pilot project which also includes implementing the PAVES model.
