Job description

As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for high-calibre individual to join our Psychology Lab as a Psychology Technician based at our London Bloomsbury campus.  As our Psychology Technician you will provide the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support to students, staff and external partners for teaching related activities.  Serving as a primary source of expertise when demonstrating the safe use of specialist psychological equipment, software and techniques to students and staff. The role requires previous experience working as a Psychology Technician in either a HE or FE environment. As our Psychology Technician, you will: Lead on general management and housekeeping of laboratories Be responsible for the maintenance of, and arranging repair of, equipment in the experimental laboratory facilities and research suites Provide specialist training for up-skilling of members of the technical team, other staff and students as required. Lead on high-level support projects for both student projects and staff research including advice and training on experimental design, creating materials and interpreting data. Work co-operatively with fellow business professionals and lecturers to encourage good working relationships and maintain high levels of support and delivery. We are looking for people who are/have: BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology or related discipline Experience of working as a Psychology Technician in HE or FE environment Ability to provide specialist advice and assistance to students and staff to include; demonstrating the use of equipment, statistical and experimental packages Knowledge of health and safety at work practices and legal requirements Familiarity with statistical and Psychological experimental design packages – SPSS, NVivo, E-Prime, Matlab, Superlab, Qualtrics. Psychology experiment builders, such as PsychoPy and/or Gorilla Any experience in supporting teaching would be desirable.
