PT Temporary Arts Attendant - Lisburn

KEY PURPOSE:


The post holder actsas a front-line point of contact for the patrons of the Council’s Arts Service,based at ISLAND Arts Centre and assists with the day-to-day running of the ArtsService, as required. Operationally, theArts Attendant is directly responsible to the Arts Administration Coordinatorbut at times may report to the person acting as Duty Officer of the venue wherethey are working on any issues of building maintenance e.g. heating, lighting,security, hygiene.

The post holder mayassume additional duties relevant to the post as reasonably determined by theArts Administration Coordinator to address changing business needs orrequirements which shall include participation in the interchange of duties tocover breaks, annual leave and other absences.


KEYDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this role. Thepost-holder may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required toperform additional or different duties from those set forth below to addressbusiness needs and changing business practices. Considerable and often heavymanual-handling is required, in this post.

  1. To undertake a range of Front of House duties in accordance with the Council’s Customer Care standards, including the operation of the Arts Centre’s telephone system; ensuring all calls are correctly dealt with and that all messages received, are recorded and delivered. To check deliveries, sign and take receipt of goods for the Arts Service, as necessary.
  1. To undertake a range of duties in relation to the selling of tickets for the Arts Service when required, including cash reconciliation and the conveyance and collection of monies and other valuables to and from secure safes on or off site.

3.To assist staff, performers and patrons at Arts Service performances andevents, immediately reporting any unusual situation that may indicate danger topatrons at such events or the property of Lisburn City Council; to include thecompletion of relevant incident forms, as required,


To assist with the general security of ISLAND Arts Centre and its associated storage premises, including the locking and un-locking of these facilities. This includes checking that all lights have been extinguished, bins have been emptied and that such premises are secure, as necessary before leaving.

  1. To undertake the setting up of rooms at ISLAND Arts Centre or other location for usage by Arts Service patrons / staff and to offer such patrons / staff relevant assistance at these locations, when required.
  1. To assist in the collection, set-up and return of exhibitions at ISLAND Arts Centre or any other location, as and when required. To assist with the Get-in, Fit-up and Get-out of all relevant events in the Studio Theatre and ISLAND Hall, when required.

7.To undertake the preparation and distribution of promotional materialsrelating to the Arts Service and set up publicity displays and signs for theArts Service. Responsible for the collection of art materials and taking stockinventory as required.

  1. To ensure that ISLAND Arts Centre and its surrounding areas are kept free from obstruction and debris by carrying out a full range of care-taking duties, including cleaning and maintenance duties, as and when required.

9. Ensure all Health and Safetylegislation, published relevant guidelines and Council Health & Safetypolicies and procedures are compiled within relation to the services andactivities within the facility. To beaware of Normal Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans and all RiskAssessments as applicable to the Arts Service.

Essential Criteria:

Education/Qualifications:

Five GCSE passesat Grade A-C, NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline

1.2A minimum of three years employmentexperience gained within an Events and or Customer Service environment.

*Where the stated qualifications outlinedin 1.1 are not met a minimum of 5years relevant experience as outlined above is required.

Technical Competencies/Skills:

1.3A full (i.e. notprovisional) and current Driving Licence which enables the licence holder todrive in Northern Ireland or access to a form of transport to enable the dutiesof the post to be carried out in full.

1.4 Acurrent First Aid certificate.

Hours: 20 hours per week

Salary: £12.18 per hour plus accruedholiday pay
