Job Overview:
The Talent Set is really exciting to be working with a fantastic charity as they search for a Policy and Public Affairs Lead for a 12-month opportunity. As a key member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to influence senior policy and political figures, amplifying the importance of shared reading across sectors such as early years, health, poverty reduction, arts and culture, and children's social care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the charity to strengthen partnerships with local and regional organisations, expanding the impact of the cause and their initiatives.
- Execute the implementation plan for our policy and Public Affairs objectives, collaborating closely with colleagues across the organisation.
- Support policy and Public Affairs initiatives involving current and future children’s laureates and other influential ambassadors.
- Cultivate and leverage relationships with senior external stakeholders such as government officials, policymakers, opinion leaders, and think tanks to ensure our policy priorities are considered in relevant legislation and manifestos.
- Curate compelling briefings and external materials utilising our wealth of evidence, case studies, and existing policy frameworks, ensuring our work is communicated through trusted and credible sources.
- Represent the charity as a senior policy spokesperson, delivering presentations and engaging in policy discussions at forums, events, and meetings.
- Stay informed about policy developments, advising on potential risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations for action while preparing briefings and presentations as required.
- Lead responses to government consultations and relevant sector inquiries.
- Advocate for policy and Public Affairs initiatives across the organisation, fostering collaboration and contributing to other relevant activities.
Person Profile:
- Seasoned professional in policy and Public Affairs with a track record of successful campaigns or strategy implementation.
- Dedicated to addressing the disadvantage gap for children and enthusiastic about collaborating with renowned experts including high-profile authors, academics, and influencers to promote the organisation and shared reading.
- Willingness to be hands-on, engage with stakeholders, and produce quality content when necessary.
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset, eager to capitalize on the expertise of colleagues across different departments.
- Enjoy working within a dynamic project group environment alongside experts from research, communications, and partnerships teams.
