??We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Affairs Manager to join the Anglian Water team on a Fixed term contract for 12 months starting in May 2024.

You will be managing the day-to-day delivery of the Public Affairs Strategy through cultivating relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of Anglian Water's policy influencing objectives. ?

What you'll be doing:

??- Manage the delivery Anglian Water's Public Affairs strategy in parliament and policy-making circles, such as MPs, Government departments, all-party parliamentary groups, government policy forums and through think tanks and membership organisations we sponsor.

- Act as a company spokesperson to advocate for key policy messages with MPs, and other decision makers.

- Lead delivery of AW's external engagement programme of hosted or 3rd party conferences, briefing sessions and political conferences.

- Identify and secure influential speaking opportunities for business leaders and board members, ensuring individuals are fully briefed and equipped for each event

- Manage relationships with key political stakeholders and political intelligence gathering agencies to ensure the business receives accurate, relevant and timely public policy, legislative and political affairs information.

- Lead and maintain relationships with key stakeholders working on similar policy issues to us.

- Advise key project teams on our political activities to ensure messaging and communications are aligned with public policy priorities, maximising the chances of campaign success.

- Manage on-going relationships with 3rd party agencies and ensure our contracts remain fit-for-purpose and value for money.

What does it take to be successful?

??- Highly experienced Public Affairs professional with knowledge in current affairs, politics and the parliamentary process gained through a variety of specialist roles

- Ability to write in a clear and concise manner

- Ability to communicate complex political and policy messages clearly and easily to a range of senior audiences

- Knowledge of the water sector, economic development and the environment including climate change

- Ability to engage with people at all levels including senior managers and key external senior stakeholders, and to win their respect

- Well organised approach to work with a very strong attention to detail

- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing political landscape and (sometimes very tight) deadlines
