Public Affairs Officer

Location: Maidenhead, with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Circa £36,000 per annum, depending upon skills and experience

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

Who we are

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an organisation dedicated to honouring and caring for the graves and memorials of servicemembers who died in the two World Wars. The work of the commission is not only out on the field, but in our head office too, which contributes to the meaningful commemoration of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

What you'll be doing

The CWGC has launched a new strategy, setting out ambitious plans to ensure our role as a forward-thinking global leader in commemoration in perpetuity. One of the four strategic priorities in this new strategy is 'Deepening Relations'. This is an exciting new role, central to taking forward this priority to ensure that our work remains relevant to future generations.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Commission to help showcase our knowledge, expertise and thought leadership in commemoration with our member governments, other commemoration organisations and our many global stakeholders.

What you'll need to have

  • Degree educated or work-based experience relevant to the role.
  • An understanding of or interest in UK parliamentary and government department processes, and Commonwealth structures.
  • Experience of writing briefing papers for internal and/or external audiences
  • Experience of building and developing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
