We are looking for an outstanding Public Health Programme Manager who wants to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing outcomes for Slough residents and their families. If you are enthusiastic and passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities, then this is the role for you!

The successful candidate will have significant practical experience of programme management and commissioning of specialist projects or health improvement programmes, or contributing to larger initiatives working across partnerships in the Health Service, Local Authority, voluntary and third sector or related fields. In this challenging opportunity you will need experience of excellent management skills to support Public Health to ensure long term sustainability.

We work closely with statutory partners as well as the Frimley ICS, community and voluntary sectors, to promote and create innovative ways of tackling local challenges, and ensure services deliver improved and sustained outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Financial responsibility for obtaining best value for money for health improvement, health protection and health service quality improvement programmes in own and team’s area of work
  • Performance management of the Public Health team function
  • Manage the recruitment and training of staff and provide day-to-day management of the Public Health team function
  • Manage Public Health Programme and project budgets
  • Working to ensure a smooth transition for Slough Borough Council’s Public Health Team from the wider East Berkshire System into its own directorate; implementing robust governance and processes
  • Deputising for the Deputy Director of Public Health and Public Health Principal at relevant boards with regard to monitoring, reporting and budgetary responsibilities set out within the scheme of delegation
