Public Health Programme Officer (Children)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Knowsley Council’s Public Health team as a Public Health Programme Officer (Children).

The Public Health team is responsible for providing leadership on health improvement and health protection to reduce health inequalities and improve health outcomes for residents. It does this through influencing and working across the council and with partners to promote health behaviours, embed a health in all policies approach and deliver system approaches to improve health outcomes.

This exciting position will lead on Public Health Programmes and activities related to children and young people (predominantly school aged children).

The postholder will lead, develop and implement evidence based Public Health strategies and programmes to improve Public Health outcomes for children, in particular focusing on healthy weight.

You will act as a link between Public Health, children’s services, schools and other youth settings to promote healthy environments and practice.

The postholder will be expected to build strong relationships and work in partnership with others to improve health outcomes for children and young people.

It is a two-year fixed term post, so it is expected that applicants have experience or can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant Public Health practice, healthy weight or children’s health.
