An opportunity has arisen to join the East Lothian and MidlothianPublic Protection Office (EMPPO) as a Learning and Development Officer. This post is being offered on a full time basis for one year, with a potential opportunity for an extension of this for a further period, or permanently on a part-time basis. A secondment opportunity can be considered.
EMPPO is a jointly funded partnership team which supports the work of East Lothian and MidlothianPublic Protection Committee (EMPPC). EMPPC is the local strategic partnership responsible for the overview of local policy and practice in relation to Adult Protection, Child Protection, MAPPA and Violence Against Women and Girls. The primary aim of EMPPC is to provide leadership and strategic oversight of Public Protection activity and performance across East Lothian and Midlothian. One of its core responsibilities is to deliver a multi-agency learning and development strategy and programme of training and learning opportunities.
The post holder will be responsible for implementation of the East Lothian and MidlothianPublic Protection Learning and Development strategy. A core aspect of the post will be developing and co-delivering training to multi-agency staff and volunteers who work in East Lothian and Midlothian.
The successful candidate will be based in the Public Protection Office in the Brunton Hall, Musselburgh.
The jobholder is required to hold a professional qualification in Social Work or an allied profession and be educated to degree level or SCQF Level 10. The jobholder requires a good knowledge of issues and challenges across the Public Protection field, which includes the areas of Adult Support and Protection, Child Protection and Violence Against Women and Girls.
Professional experience and proven expertise in the organisation and delivery of inter-agency training is essential. The post-holder should be confident in using Microsoft Office packages, including MS Teams, and creating and delivering presentations, as the delivery method for training will be a blended model of face-to-face training and on-line.
