Job Opportunity: Purchasing & Payment Services Manager

Location: Middlemoor HQ, Exeter or Winfrith HQ, Dorset

Contract Type: 6-Month Assignment (Temp to Perm Process after 14 Weeks)

About Us: The Alliance Finance Department comprises around 80 dedicated professionals delivering payroll, purchasing & exchequer, and accountancy services. With a hybrid working model, our team is spread across the headquarters in Exeter and Winfrith, enabling occasional remote work. Our team members reside across all three counties, fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Role Overview: Purchasing & Payment Services Manager

As the Purchasing & Payment Services Manager, you will lead a team of 17 staff responsible for sourcing, ordering, and processing payments for goods and services essential to our police officers and staff across the three counties. Your role will involve adherence to financial regulations, ensuring best value purchasing, overseeing payments, and monitoring team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 17 staff, ensuring service delivery in line with financial regulations.
  • Prioritise workloads, monitor team performance, and promote staff welfare.
  • Oversee purchasing, invoicing, debtors, income, banking, petty cash management, and debt monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to supplier contracts, fostering best value purchasing.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a finance environment.
  • Strong managerial experience, capable of leading a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in computerized financial systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • Ethical mindset, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage competing demands.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a commitment to customer service.
