The Position:
This is a newly created position and will report direct into the Group Purchasing Director who is a member of the Executive Committee. You will already be in a Commercial or Purchasing Director role and looking for a similar role with greater responsibility.
The role will be responsible for supporting the group in delivering its quota expectations with a direct responsibility for product margin and performance across our whole portfolio of product categories.
This role will have a base office at the new NDC in Rotherham.
Main Objectives:
- To maximise product and supplier opportunities by utilising our own distribution channels
- To protect end to end product margin through rigorous sign off processes in conjunctions with the other stakeholders.
- To manage a continual improvement programme of supplier conditions in line with group strategies and quota expectations
- To manage a stock inventory programme of over £250M maximising stock turns and efficiencies to achieve Company expectations whilst maintaining availability at an industry leading level.
- To work alongside European counterparts in maximising strategic opportunities across the wider group.
- To manage the control, content and timely deployment of over 500 supplier contracts.
- To manage the pricing processes of the organisation ensuring files are delivered on time and accurate to the varying customer base of the group.
- To manage product administration for all products and cataloguing for an expanding private label range.
- To participate and present in regular senior meetings across the organisation.
- To work alongside other senior stakeholders ensuring we keep the business focused on achieving the planned objectives.
- Managing multiple complex supplier rebates programmes
- Understand and rationalisation of intercompany trading principles to gain further synergies for the organisation
- Manage global trading platforms and assist in ensuring these suppliers deliver exceptional on time and in full for the benefit of the business
Essential Requirements:
- You will be managing a number of Commercial Directors with total team size of around 100 based in several locations around the UK and ROI, therefore strong line management is a prerequisite,
- You will be experienced in building relationships with suppliers, with the ability to continuously extract value from the relationships
- You will not be phased by managing a purchasing spend of over £700M and Procurement of 100,000 different part numbers
- You will have experience in private label development and/or developing brands generally
- You will be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment, juggling many projects and delivering results in budget and on time
- Strong negotiation skills at a senior level with the ability to influence
- Willingness to travel as team is based nationally, some European travel required
- Good time management and planning skills
- Excellent presentations skills
- Good level of IT skills
