Python And/Or Java Developer

WA Consultants is currently recruiting for a few Software Developers with Python and/or Java with experience of AWS for an established but growing client based in Plymouth. Experience wise, we are looking for Mid to Senior/Tech Lead level developers.

Our client operates a hybrid working policy with the expectation of one site visit per week to their office in Plymouth.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

• Design and development
• Significant experience of working with AWS
• Assisting in the technical direction of projects
• Ensuring code quality
• Working to a project schedule
• Suggesting improvements to project team processes, tooling and techniques
• Sharing knowledge and experience with others, in particular helping customers to establish strong engineering cultures
• Some off site travel and working may be required.

Essential Skills:

• Core and Enterprise Python and/or Java including Spring
• Knowledge of developing and maintaining AWS infrastructure
• Worked with more than one programming language
• Desire to deliver outcomes for users
• Desire to mentor others
• Some full stack
• Firm grasp of SOLID principles
• TDD (Test driven development)
• RESTful Web Services

Desired Skills:

• AWS Certifications
• Software Design patterns
• Standup and presentation skills
• Agile practices such as Scrum
• GIS eg ArcGIS, GeoServer, GeoNetwork
