For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We operate across multiple UK locations, with studios based in Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool, and Wakefield. We are looking for a highly experienced QA Project Lead with a passion for video games and expertise in Games as a Service (GAAS) titles to join our leading independent video games studio. As part of our dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and success of our multiple projects.

Your role is to ensure the quality of our games to industry leading standard and ensure the integration of the work is in line with the project’s technical constraints and direction. Your focus is the execution of your work and how this develops the project.

Experience:

  • Multiple years of professional QA experience on a dev QA team.
  • Experience shipping a multi-platform title from beginning to end in a senior tester role.
  • Experience in all forms and types of testing required in shipping a title (network, performance, etc.).
  • Experience in on-boarding and mentoring new starters.
  • Experience in creating and delegating daily tasks for the test team.
  • Experience in supporting the external team’s QA efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead and motivate test teams with a hands-on approach, leading by example.
  • Plan, create and ensure the timely execution of the project test plan & test cases.
  • Perform assessments of projects with development and production teams to identify all areas requiring testing and provide risk assessments to avoid problems and bottlenecks in the QA process.
  • Proactively solve project issues with the help of test teams and management before they impact the project.
  • Be an active mentor and role model to your team with direct and efficient communication, leading by example and working on maintaining morale by creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm.
  • Communicate the project status to the rest of the leadership team in QA, Production and other stakeholders (EOD, EOW, Release checklists and PVR reports).
  • Administer and enforce the quality and consistency of bugs as per the project requirement.
  • Maintain and update the project’s QA confluence pages as well as documentation for the project's external QA teams.
  • Provide positive and constructive performance feedback to your test team, raising warnings when appropriate.
  • Provide performance evaluations & feedback to your test team.
  • Provide a professional, courteous and active line of communication to the project's external test team.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
  • Good knowledge of the development cycle.
  • An advanced knowledge of the current gen platforms and PC store fronts.
  • Strong knowledge of testing tools.
  • An ability to creatively solve unexpected problems as they may arise.
  • Able to mentor and lead a team by example.
  • Ability to evaluate your team's strengths and weaknesses and apply these to maximize the team's performance.
  • Able to analyse the database to draw conclusions on the title's health as well as the team's performance.
  • Adept at working both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to apply logic and support the test team in narrowing down technical bugs when necessary.
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks depending on changing circumstances.
