SALARY: £12.50 per hour plus holiday pay (5 to 6 hour minimum shift)
TERMS: Non-guaranteed hours on an event by event basis
London Stadium are looking for event day stewards to join the team to assist in delivering world class events and experiences for guests. London Stadium is a multi-purpose venue that is the home of West Ham United Football Club and is also equipped to host concerts, Rugby Union and League, as well as top class athletics and other events.

Key Responsibilities


The successful candidates will be working with the event day Crowd Safety Team to fill key safety and service positions within hospitality, general admission and some high-profile areas. You will operate as an ambassador for London Stadium and provide a best in class service in order to enhance the fan and customer experience, whilst ensuring safety and security standards are maintained at all times.
Your role on an event day will include:
  • Ensuring compliance with conditions of entry as set out by the ground regulations and safety certificate, including preventing unauthorized entry into the venue.
  • Controlling and directing spectators whilst monitoring crowd movement and preventing overcrowding, ensuring safe entry and exit of fans.
  • Understanding instructions and clearly communicating with spectators, including managing conflict and queue management.
  • Identifying and reporting potential hazards and carry out safety checks.
  • Staffing all entrances, exits (including exit doors or gates) which are continuously secured in the open position whilst the ground is in use.
  • Undertaking specific duties in an emergency or as directed by the Safety Officer or their team.
  • Having the ability and resources to accurately describe and record incidents for future reference.
  • Being confident and competent in the use of technology and aids supplied by management. i.e. Radios, megaphones and wands.
  • Having a comprehensive understanding of key area specific roles and responsibilities.
  • Offering fans and guests exceptional matchday experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


You must hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) in Spectator Safety qualification to be considered for this role.
Suitable candidates should be smart, friendly and confident when dealing with members of the public.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is subject to a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service check. All applicants must be over 18 years of age.
Successful candidates must commit to working 80% of the events at London Stadium.
We would ask you to commit to any additional training required such as customer service and online event specific inductions.


Benefits


We are a Living Wage Employer so all of our roles pay at least the London Living Wage, with a minimum shift of six hours. We pay our casual workers fortnightly – so you will only have to wait a max of two weeks to be paid for shifts.
We have a wide range of events – from West Ham United football throughout August to May, Concerts and MLB in June, Athletics in July and other smaller events like food festivals! So there is a lot of variety, with different days and hours of work available, and you can pick and choose shifts on your availability, although if in training we’d ask you to commit to 80% of work.
