Job description

Tripod Partners are a leading social services provider in Nottinghamshire dedicated to ensuring the well-being and safety of vulnerable children and families in our community. We are committed to providing high-quality care and support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) who have arrived in Nottinghamshire, offering them a safe haven and access to essential services.We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join our team, specializing in supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) in Nottinghamshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by UASC and will be passionate about advocating for their rights and well-being. As a UASC Social Worker, you will play a vital role in providing practical support, guidance, and advocacy to empower these vulnerable young people to thrive in their new environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children's (UASC) needs, including their social, emotional, and practical support requirements.
  2. Develop and implement care plans tailored to the individual needs of each UASC, ensuring they have access to essential services, including housing, education, healthcare, and legal support.
  3. Provide ongoing support and guidance to UASC, acting as their advocate and ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
  4. Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including immigration services, legal representatives, educational institutions, and community organizations, to coordinate support and services for UASC.
  5. Monitor and review the progress of UASC, identifying any emerging needs or concerns and adjusting support plans accordingly.
  6. Support UASC in navigating the asylum process, providing information, guidance, and emotional support throughout the process.
  7. Provide crisis intervention and support to UASC during times of acute distress or instability, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  9. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with UASC.
  10. Stay informed about relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the field of asylum and immigration, applying this knowledge to inform practice and advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Previous experience working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) or vulnerable migrant populations, preferably within a social services or humanitarian organization.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to asylum and immigration, including the rights and entitlements of UASC.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
