THE BUSINESS
Our client serves the plastics industry from their Newcastle location. They have a diverse of products under their portfolio. With national recognition for quality at competitive pricing, they have gained a strong reputation to supply major blue-chip companies, stocking many household brand within their customer base.
They are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager, with a background in food hygiene standards (BRC) and HACCP training.
The organisation currently has an £8.5M turnover and they are on target to grow the business to a £10M turnover by next year. The business is also dedicated to investing in all areas of the business.
This is a leadership role. They are looking for someone who can nurture and develop the existing quality team, introducing modern approaches to a successful, yet traditional business. A proven manager, with the confidence to implement system improvements and tangible product quality improvement.
They are a 24/5 high-volume manufacturer, producing various packaging and hold an AA grade in accordance with BRCGS Packaging Materials (issue 6). This is the highest award achievable. The Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in developing a collaborative food safety, quality culture within our company. Essentially the driving force in maintaining, monitoring, measuring and enforcing our internal and external systems.
The Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager must be a good and timely communicator. Dedicated to continuous improvement, driving excellence, enhancing customer confidence and satisfaction.
THE ROLE
- Provide leadership and direction to the QA/QC team, promoting continuous improvement in all aspects of our practises.
- Responsible for a team consisting of a Quality Manager and 3 QC/Inspectors delivering all soft “HR” tasks
- Working to help establish a continuous improvement culture
- Develop and mentor the quality team
- Lead HACCP initiatives and ensure compliance to our systems.
- The customers direct point of contact for any issues relating quality and compliance, managing complaints, effectively and preventing reoccurrence.
- Ensure production compliance with customer specification and good manufacturing practises (GMP).
- Process NCR’s, root cause analysis and implementation of improvements.
- Oversee audit programs performed by the quality team.
- With ownership for trends, measure and report internal and customer KPIs.
- Drive activities to improve year on year KPIs related to quality and compliance.
THE PERSON
- 5 years minimum experience in a quality and Compliance Managerial role.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Strong knowledge of BRC compliance and audits.
- HACCP Level 3 qualification and experience in packing materials quality systems.
- Experience in FMCG or similar environment, with team management experience.
