The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity at Hartlepool Power Station to join the team as a Quality Assurance Engineer. The successful candidate will support, monitor and identify opportunities for improvement for the ongoing development and implementation of Station Management systems to meet the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence and Company Quality Policies.

We’re offering a salary ranging from £40,069
- £60,826 that apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification. What You’ll Be Doing
Principal Accountabilities
- Prepares and manages station audit / outage surveillance programmes to improve process / areas of poor performance.
- Arranges and conducts audits as Lead Auditor, monitors closeout of corrective actions and supervises and assesses the performance of trainee auditors / lead auditors.
- Acts as a Lead Auditor or an Auditor in order to provide independence to confirm adequate arrangements are in place for satisfying site license requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives and procedures.
- Supports the Quality Management Group Head and the Technical Safety Support Manager as required, in establishing, implementing and maintaining a coherent and integrated management system within Nuclear generation that adheres to company policy, to the requirements of IAEA Safety Standard GS-R-3 — The Management System for Facilities and Activities, and to other standards adopted by the company
- Implements and manages the company Management system manual for the station.
- Implements outage Quality Assurance requirements to ensure delivery of successful outages outcome under out key deliverables of safety, quality, time and cost.
- Assists on investigating Significant Events, as requested to challenge the Quality Assurance requirements and reflect the station audit programme with effectiveness reviews / emergent audits.
- Compiles information from their audits and fleet audit findings, internal surveillances, Regulator inspections, and interventions, LRQA assessments and performance indicators to assist with the production of monthly reports to the station management team.
- Reviews Quality and Contract Enquiry Technical Specifications, in consultation with the Specifier.
- Attends contract inaugural meetings ensuring that suppliers understand the contractual quality requirements and are made aware of our standards and expectations.
- Provides management system expertise, support and guidance to the station process owners, departments and process owners to assist them in ensuring that quality standards are met with a consistent approach and that good practice is shared throughout the business unit.
- Supports training of staff regarding the Graded Application of Quality Assurance, development and use of quality plans and for the Stations Process Owners regarding process management.
- Collates lessons learnt from Fleet Process Audit findings in which the station did not participate, and from LRQA findings from all sites, and facilitates their review where applicable by the Station Process Owner.
- Completes effectiveness reviews on the implementation of lessons learnt from the audits / inspections / surveillances / interventions as agreed by the station management team.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement at local and business level and communicates these appropriately.
- Supports the station with the external assessments, and ensures staff are aware of the expectations of these groups.
Who you are
- As a minimum, entrants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.
- Able to confidently discuss audit scope, objectives and findings with internal and external auditees at all levels.
- Able to display independence of mind, impartiality and objectivity even in difficult situations.
- Demonstrate effective communications skills both verbally and in writing at all levels.
- Capacity to identify underlying cause(s) of quality problems and provide guidance and support to the station.
- Building effective relationships and team working at all levels.
- Has a sound appreciation of an effective management system in the nuclear or other technically orientated industry.
- Experience in auditing integrated management system as a lead auditor.
- Preparation of compelling audit and periodic reports.
- Analysis of business unit performance to identify potential Quality Assurance shortfalls

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
