Based at Roway Lane, Oldbury, the Gas Services team has responsibility for ensuring that SMBC is compliant with its landlord duties in ensuring all landlord’s owned appliances are maintained in a safe working order.
The role of the Gas Quality Assurance Inspector will be to mainly undertake work in progress and post work Quality Assurance inspections on both contractors and the in-house gas team. At times where required you will also be expected to carry out pre-Installation surveys and provide advice on what is required. You will be required to carry out audits of compliance certification and other associated paperwork.
You will:
- Keep up with industry updates and be aware of the ever-changing renewable energy market.
- Ensure that what work is carried out meets the current gas, building regulations and current standards and comply with manufacturer’s instructions and that where a work in progress is carried out, that the employee or contractor is working safely.
- Need to understand current contract specifications to ensure that the work carried out meets the requirements.
- Liaise with both contractors and supervisors to ensure that any defects that are identified as part of the inspection are followed through and rectified.
- Be required to work flexibly between 8am and 6.30pm.
- Demonstrate sound practical knowledge of current Gas Safety Regulations, Building Regulations 2010: Documents L Volume 1 and Central Heating System Specification.
- Be in possession of and maintain a clean driving licence.
You will hold all relevant domestic ACS gas competencies, including current ACS Qualifications in Gas Safety and all Domestic Gas Appliances including Central Heating and Warm Air and/or any subsequent Mandatory Requirement for working in the Gas Industry. You must also hold a Level 3 Auditing qualification or be willing to obtain.
You will hold a minimum of 5 years’ experience excluding periods of training with a minimum of 3 years’ experience continual hands-on practical experience or supervisory experience in the installation, service and repair of modern and older domestic gas appliances including central heating, hot water systems and warm air.
Qualifications and Competencies must be produced at interview and the applicant may be required to sit a skills test paper as part of shortlisting.
