Quality Inspector / Tile Sortation Operative

Our client in Ossett stands as one of the UK's leading designers and manufacturers of contract carpet tiles & planks. Their expansive product range includes multilevel loop, loop pile, structure bonded®, fibre bonded, and cut pile carpets in both sheet and tile formats. Alongside, they specialise in performance barrier systems and entrance matting products. With an eco-friendly portfolio, they continuously design innovative products catering to the needs of architects, specifiers, and contractors across various sectors.

Location: Ossett, WF5
Department: Tiling Department
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, Rotating Shifts (6:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 / 22:00-6:00) – Must rotate all 3 shifts.
Salary: £11.15 per hour, 40 hours paid per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection:

• Examine carpets and tiles for defects: misaligned patterns, colour inconsistency, and other manufacturing faults.
• Verify the quality of various carpet types.
• Ensure products, including entrance matting and barrier systems, align with company standards.
• Record inspection details, noting defects and corrective actions.

Sorting:

• Sort carpet tiles by type, colour, design, and quality grade.
• Handle and categorise defective items.
• Collaborate with production teams to relay defects and corrective actions.
• Fast Paced & Repetitive.

Reporting:

• Provide regular updates to the Quality Assurance Manager about product quality.
• Flag recurring product issues for process improvement.

Safety and Maintenance:

• Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring tools and machinery are in good condition.
• Promptly report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise tasks for efficiency without sacrificing accuracy.
• Happy to do fast paced repetitive work

Skills & Abilities:

• Exceptional visual skills for discerning colours and patterns.
• Effective communication for seamless team collaboration.
• Capable of physical tasks, including lifting/moving carpet tiles.
• Comfortable in a manufacturing setting.
