As a result of our continued growth, we are looking for a Quality Control (QA) Technician to help us drive and maintain our high standards and ensure we can continue to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.
About the role
The overall purpose of your role will be to ensure that all product testing is carried out in a timely manner against the specifications set against each product.
You will be responsible for completing tests on finished products and raw materials, using agreed documented methods and procedures. You will also conduct internal audits and work with key departments to drive continuous improvement in the factory.
You will be joining a small, high-performing team of quality professionals who are friendly, supportive and passionate about their roles. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring that our products are manufactured to the highest standards and in compliance with legislative requirements and safety standards.
Key duties:
- Complete all tests as required on finished products and raw materials using agreed documented methods and procedures.
- To keep retention samples and to report any out-of-specification results to the NPD & Quality Systems Manager for further review.
- Follow the sampling schedule for all raw materials, finished product, swabs and water testing, including end-of-life testing, ensuring that all schedules are adhered to.
- Arrange lab collections when needed and manage samples collection and delivery to be sent to the laboratory
- Generate hold, scrap and rework labels as required, ensuring that any accompanying transactions and comments on the Tropos software are completed
- Work with other departments in investigating failures; assist in problem solving and promote ideas for sustainable solutions
- Establish good co-operative internal relationships with relevant departments/colleagues
- Record all process deviations and non-conforming products by raising non-conformances, concession, hold note and supplier non-conformances; and follow through for proper corrective actions.
- Record all process deviation and non-conforming products on the relevant logs
- Create and send certificates of analysis for finished product as required
- Ensure that sufficient consumables are available to complete required testing
- Ensure effective handover among the other members of the Quality department
- Drive high standards of GMP within your area of responsibility
- Drive continuous improvement of internal processes, e.g. non-conformance, failure, concession, traceability
- Support the development of the British Bakels quality culture; lead by example in our corrective and preventive action planning and delivery
- Own the development plan for your assigned area of responsibility. Develop and maintain your knowledge and expertise in relevant areas
- Support the development and implementation of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
You must also have the right to work in the UK and live within commuting distance of Bicester, Oxfordshire. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor candidates for visa applications for this role.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a production or quality role within a manufacturing business (ideally food manufacturing)
- Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Level 2 HACCP
- Excellent communication skills
- Influencing and negotiation skills to effect change and a ‘right first time’ approach.
- Determination to see a task through to the end and challenge barriers.
- Self-motivated and responsible for time management
- A users’ knowledge of Tropos, Excel and Word
- Strong organisational skills
- Internal auditing qualification or experience
Desirable
- Experience working in a Quality role within UK retailers
- An understanding of customer Codes of Practice, specific certification requirements e.g. RSPO, HALAL, BRCGS
Working hours
We have an opportunity working either on weekly rotating shifts Mon-Fri 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm; or night shifts of Mon-Thurs from 10pm-6am.
