Job Title: Quality/ Inspection Supervisor - Electrical Rotating Machines

Location: Rugby

Business Area: Rotating Machinery

Starting Salary: £35,000.00 dependent on skills and experience

Job Role

We are seeking a Quality / Inspection Supervisor to carry out daily measuring and inspection tasks and ensuring that the company’s quality and inspection processes are followed.


Success will be achieved by building effective working relationships with colleagues and customers and communicating throughout the company to ensure that the QMS is functioning properly and complied with as well as advising on changes and providing training to enable others to achieve the quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products and recording achieved results
  • Ensuring received inspections and goods receipt checks are carried out
  • Supervise processes and procedures are being adhered at all times, monitoring projects for compliance against set standards
  • Capture quality issues, carrying out detailed investigations and reporting root cause analysis as well as providing support to operations on corrective and preventative actions
  • Support internal / external quality audit processes
  • Carry out supplier site visits, monitor and audit machining processes, Fabrication, Plating, Stamping and Laser cutting of purchased components
  • Review defect costs for the business and highlighting any issues and trends for failures
  • Oversee and review the calibration of workshop / inspection measuring gauges
  • Identify training were necessary for employees within the business unit in all aspects of quality
  • Raise the profile and promote a quality culture across the business identifying and assisting in implementing improvements where necessary
  • Promote a risk management culture within the business
  • Recognise and understand IECEx/ATEX (Ex certified components) as well as carrying out measurements of all critical dimensions to the relevant Ex standards
  • Confident to sign off quality assurances and final sign off prior to project dispatch


Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven background in Electrical / mechanical engineering (in particular rotating machinery)
  • Competent in the use of mechanical measuring equipment, such as micrometer, Vernier, dial gauge indictors, slip gauges etc. to achieve correct meaningful measurements
  • Previous experience in carrying out inspections and producing reports
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standard
  • Competent use of ICT packages (Microsoft word / excel / PowerPoint)
  • Experience with risk management processes
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Understanding and experience of quality auditing techniques, engineering design and product reliability concepts
  • Willing to travel UK and abroad
