About the role

The Quality Manager is responsible for providing quality leadership in end-to-end quality management of Home product unit of Floorcare throughout the product lifecycle. Reporting to Senior Quality Manager, the scope of responsibility is throughout the product lifecycles from participating in the early project quality planning & product/project risk assessment to managing the deliverables and health during builds, ramp-up and lifecycle along cross functional of category, engineering & operations.

  • Own assigned product from quality perspective throughout the Floorcare product life.

  • Predicting & managing of product quality Key Performance Indicators of Star Ratings, Cost of Poor Quality (based on failure rate) and lesson learnt/Top Defect Matrix (TDM); and any other KPIs whichever assigned.

  • To engage Dyson cross teams / functions as well as Contract Manufacturer(s) during New Product Introduction protocols and processes to a successful project milestone and later to Flawless Product Launch phase in the market.


Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Product Quality Lead for assigned project (quality ownership throughout the product life). Represent Quality into Milestone and preparing/accountable quality phase review (QPR).

  • Liaise with other quality function like Safety, Satisfaction and Process Quality to deliver KPIs into QPR & MS.

  • Propose and review design mitigations in early phased to ensure robust product design & deployment - this will translate to prediction of product reliability failure rate with inputs from product validation and historical data and in-turn into Cost of Poor Quality.

  • Liaise with Market Quality Teams to understand the key performance issues on products in the field, whether they are reliability, performance or usability issues.

  • Understand the perceived quality and reliability of Dyson products in-market, and the causes behind. Lead in building a data-driven picture with which to provide compelling answers to queries from a variety of origins.

  • Assist the Satisfaction team to predict/support Satisfaction Star Rating.

  • Ensure clear and effective internal and external communication within the Quality and Product Safety and cross-functional teams.

  • Liaise with Process Quality to ensure all Dyson products are manufactured according to the agreed work instructions, standards, processes, procedures, drawings and guidelines including rework.

  • Support the work of Engineering & Operation to design and deploy/improve products and process and ensure new products are of the highest quality.

  • Produce clear and concise reports that summarize work undertaken that are tailored to the knowledge level of the intended recipient.

  • Issue Resolution: Lead technical assessment and investigation of issues found throughout the lifecycle of the product/part. Engage with Engineering and Technology experts to assess risk and drive issue resolution for effective mitigation and prevent repeat issue.

  • In this role, interacting with multiple engineering disciplines and the wider business, the candidate will drive year-on-year improvements in product quality & process quality design and deployment throughout the product lifecycle.

About you

  • Degree in Engineering with minimum 10 years of working experience in Quality, Product Design; Development and Manufacturing

  • Technically inclined; possess domain expertise in the quality area of interest with a proven track record.

  • Strong knowledge in Quality System, preferably certified as Lead Auditor.

  • Excellent analytical skill with good knowledge of statistical data analysis.

  • Good knowledge of Quality tools e.g. 8D, APQP, DOE, FMEA, GR&R, SPC, SixSigma. Certified Black/Green Belts will be advantageous.

  • Strong organization skill and personal drive with ability to work independently under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills across different hierarchical levels and geographical zones, catering to both technical and non-technical audiences through variety of media.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Ability to travel internationally if required.
