About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.
Salary: £38,700 - £58,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team, see below the key responsibilities;
- Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of tender submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications, cost-effectiveness, and financial viability.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to assess the technical and commercial aspects of contractor proposals and bid submissions, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
- Develop detailed cost plans and budgets for energy infrastructure projects, incorporating all phases from design through to construction and completion.
- Implement robust cost control mechanisms to monitor project expenditures against budgets, identifying variances and working with Senior Commercial Managers to initiate corrective actions to mitigate financial risks.
- Coordinate and control all formal contract instructions, notices and valuations.
- Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project management teams, to ensure alignment on procurement strategies and cost management.
What do I need?
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction either as a Main Contractor or Sub-Contractor and ideally in the Mechanical and Engineering industry.
- Experience within the energy industry is a plus, but not essential.
- Experience in mechanical and electrical commercial contract development and management.
- Good understanding of NEC and JCT contract administration.
- Extremely well organised and able to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
- Ability to think laterally and creatively to develop innovative solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.
