This role

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible to the Senior Commercial Manager within the Commercial team. You will be carrying out tasks such as being responsible for individual contractor accounts and regular reports and analysis. You will also provide commercial insight and support to ensure financial efficiency is achieved.

In this role you will be responsible for all commercial aspects relating to Metworks new Home Counties region based from Metworks office in the Bracknell area. As Metworks are the in-house contractor covering repairs and void works for MTVH you will be managing and analysing income and cost payments and data such as contractor accounts, material purchasing, labour productivity, waste disposal and tool and plant hire. You will also have responsibilities in reviewing Metworks quoted works and ensuring best value for money solutions are found to maximize the budget spend for Metworks and MTVH.

Please note that you will be required to travel to and work from other London sites (Wembley, Southgate and Clapham) during an initial period of training while the new office in Bracknell is established.

You will play a key role in budget management. You will be reviewing applications for payments, as well as creation of weekly and monthly reports for the Commercial Manager and Commercial Director as required

You will be required to liaise directly with the key stakeholders within MTVH and Metworks as well as contractors to ensure that contracts are achieving their intended goals with regard to financial and performance targets. In particular you will work closely with the Metworks operational delivery team, finance and procurement to drive value for money in the delivery of Metworks services.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in working in a quantity surveying / commercial environment
  • Experience of working in a social housing / housing maintenance environment (either client or contractor side)
  • Understanding of NHF and other bespoke schedule of rate based contracts.
  • Good planning, budgeting, organising and prioritization skills. Experience of keeping sound business records
  • Strong report writing skills and able to interpret financial and other systems data. A good standard of written business English and a good working knowledge of Excel
  • Able to build and sustain working relationships with different departments to achieve goals
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment and manage multiple activities and priorities to a deadline.
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and a desire to develop new skills to progress within the organisation.
