Their group have grown since then to offer a full spectrum of property services including: Planned and Project works in Painting, Roofing, Flooring, Passive and Active Fire Protection, Kitchen and Bathroom Replacements, Multi-Disciplinary Fabric Upgrades, Retrofit and Energy Services and Response and Void Maintenance Contracts, delivered by expert, directly employed teams across 40 branches. Their largest sectors are Social Housing, Defence, Local Authority, Healthcare, Education, Retail and Leisure, Commercial and Industrial.
Quantity Surveying Job Role:
Responsible for large volumes of sales.
Meeting and exceeding forecasts for profit & WIP targets.
Managing and training surveyors, trainees, and branch employees.
Progressing tenders to provide an accurate basis for pricing allowing Branch Managers and Commercial team review.
Monitor weekly and monthly cost information ensuring accuracy.
Maintaining strong customer relationships growing and identifying opportunities to lead to new business.
Exercise commercial judgement to prevent and protect from financial loss.
Maintain site presence.
Responsible for continued development of Trainee surveyors.
Specific duties and responsibilities of the role:
Understand H&S requirements of tenders and contracts.
Responsible for accurate production of estimates.
Check contracts and tender documentation and eliminate areas of risk.
Understanding of local Market.
Understanding of cost base and production levels to secure work.
Develop specialist subcontract and supplier contacts.
Ensure production targets are issued and contract CVR's are set.
Ensure quality of subcontract orders.
Monitor and accrue sales rebates.
Approve subcontractor payments.
Complete final accounts within contractual timescales.
Ensure financial reporting accurately reflects status of progress, valuations, billings and collectable cash.
Ensure contractual targets at detail and summary levels, from operative to contract manager.
Review cost base of the branch including, labour rates, subcontractors, plant, and materials.
Support recruitment, induction, performance management and development for commercial and estimating staff, and Administration staff.
Ensure work is delivered to forecast gross margins.
Responsible for monthly CVR's in group format.
Participate and influence branch monthly contract portfolio reports.
Monitor cost allocations to ensure correct control measures are in place and costs are allocated correctly.
Manage invoice disciplines to achieve company debtor day targets. Participate in negotiations to agree rebate levels.
Monitor and assist with agreement and collections of aged debt.
Check and audit purchases, time sheets.
Support commercial tender decisions , contribute to pre-tender submissions and deliver supporting documents and presentations.
Communicate with Regional and Branch Managers regarding cost, value and progress projects. Support commercial tender decisions.
Provide commercial forecasting, project reviews.
Provide guidance and advice on contractual disputes.
Assist with portfolio analysis, focusing on WiP reductions, under-performing contracts, retention release, profitability.
Identify under-performing projects and assist in ways to improve performance.
Oversee any large-scale applications for price increases, to ensure all facets of BCIS (TPI's) have been calculated.
Qualifications:
Professional industry Standard or equivalent
CMI L5 Certificate Management & Leadership
Pitman Excel Advanced Users
CSCS card Manager / Professionally qualified person
Completion of iHASCO defined mandatory training modules
