Quiz & Karaoke Host

Student Staff - Zero Hour Contract

Grade W1 - £10.52 per hour

This is an exciting and fun opportunity to host and coordinate ourweekly Quiz and Karaoke events in both Sanctuary and Asylum.

We are seeking a dynamic and confident person who has exceptionalcommunication skills and can clearly and enthusiastically speak and project ona microphone.

Hull University Students Union is a Charity, witha large trading subsidiary which included SPAR and JD Wetherspoon; our primarypurposes are:

  • Advancement of education, promoting the interests and welfare of students during study and representing, supporting and advising students.
  • Being the recognised representative channel between students and the University of Hull and other representative bodies.

About the Role

  • Youwill co-ordinate and host our Quiz and Karaoke events with confidence andenthusiasm.
  • Youwill play a key part in audience participation and engagement encouraging themto be as involved as possible.
  • Beingauthoritative, when necessary, i.e. to settle disputes on answers and keepingthe room in control.
  • Youwill need to set up the equipment each week and be competent in operating alaptop to control and operate software, full training will be given on this.
  • Workingclosely with the Event Manager to make sure everything is set for the eveningin advance.

About You

Essential

  • Enthusiasm, outgoing personality, confidence
  • Must be flexible to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends
  • Good IT Skills
  • Confidence to liaise with members of the audience.
  • Remain calm whilst working under pressure.
  • Be able to prioritise duties
  • Be able to work unsupervised in a busy environment
  • Be confident and self-motivated
  • Welcome and embrace change, with a positive attitude
  • Maintain excellent time-keeping and attendance
  • Be professional at all times
  • Always be a good team player
  • Be able to communicate well with people of all levels

Desirable

  • Previous experience of using lighting control and PA system
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety procedures.
