And right now, we re looking for a Radiological Assessor. Based at our Capenhurst site you ll produce Radiological / Chemotoxic safety assessments to cost, time and quality, complying with UUK standards and industry best practice. You will also be responsible for reviewing and understanding Radiological / Chemotoxic assessments produced by others, and providing advice to the wider UUK business on the detailed content of safety cases on site.
What will your day look like?
• Producing Radiological/ Chemotoxic safety assessments in accordance with specified standards, to time, quality and cost
• Supporting Radiological/ Chemotoxic safety assessments through the UUK Safety Case governance process (Safety Review Group, Independent Peer Review, Management of Safety & Environment Committee (MSEC) and Nuclear Safety & Environment Committee (NSEC
• Producing specifications for, and reviewing deliverables produced on behalf of UUK by the Supply Chain.
• Producing ad-hoc assessments input to Change Modification Proposals (CMPs), advice and guidance to the Site Safety Case Manager in response to events and in support of business improvements.
• Maintaining expert knowledge of the UK Regulatory framework and the implications for UK Licensees.
What do you need to be great at this role
• Degree relevant to Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
• Good understanding of how specialist disciplines input and support the development of a Nuclear Safety Case.
• Broad understanding of the UK Regulatory Framework and Regulator expectations in respect of safety assessments.
• Knowledge of the principles of Nuclear Licensed Site regulation
• Knowledge of Regulator expectations in respect of Safety Case submissions
• Good knowledge of radiological safety assessment techniques
