Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR
Salary: £35,097 to £39,570  
Contract: Monday – Friday / Permanent 39.00 hours per week.

As our Infrastructure Permanent Way Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out all maintenance, Inspection and repairs to the West Midland Metro Permanent Way equipment.
• Reporting all work activities and faults to the Permanent Way Team Leader/Supervisor and recording them on internal systems.
• Reviewing schematic drawings accurately for maintenance and repair activities
• Operating computer systems and surveying equipment effectively to gather and utilise data accurately.
• Providing an oversight of contractors carrying out planned works and conducting hand back procedures.
• Supporting other disciplines within the infrastructure department as required by the Infrastructure Maintenance Planner.
• Assist with the commissioning of new systems as well as the switching of electrical substations.
• Organising small projects and various tasks effectively.
• Attend and complete any new training required to carry out duties efficiently.
• Complying with all company Health and safety policies as provided by the company.
• Taking part in mandatory drug and alcohol tests at the company’s discretion.
• Any other duties as reasonably required.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have:

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above.
• Industry qualifications in a Mechanical Engineering field at level 3 or above.
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Worked within a safety critical engineering industry for more than five years.
• A good working knowledge of rail or light Rail Infrastructure Permanent Way or a mechanical engineering environment (Military Engineering disciplines are welcome to apply).
• Strong computer literacy skills with the ability to adapt to changing technologies.

It would be great if you had:

• Management qualification to a minimum of ILM 2 or equivalent
• Experience in driving / operating various machinery types.
• Experience managing / leading teams of maintenance technicians.
