Job description

Say hello to the NDA group graduate programme

We're the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, delivering one of the world's most important environmental programmes to decommission the UK's earliest nuclear facilities.

Our group is responsible for 17 nuclear sites in all parts of the UK, together with specialist nuclear waste and international transport businesses. And our work is growing, with more facilities joining us to be decommissioned in the next decade.

Sustainability, safety, and security are at the heart of our long-term mission to prepare our sites for their next use, work which spans into the next century.

As an NDA group graduate, you'll get the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the delivery of our nationally important mission. During our two-year graduate programme, you'll take part in three placements in different parts of the NDA group. You'll start with a 12-month placement, before completing two six-month opportunities. In exchange for your contribution, you'll be supported at the end of the programme to secure a role in the NDA group.

We have a number of Rail Operations graduate opportunities within Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS), part of NDA group, with offices and sites around the UK in Carlisle, Crewe, York and Motherwell.

Overview

Our Rail operations business, Nuclear Transport Solutions, operates around 150 trains each week for nuclear, intermodal and Network Rail supply chain customers on a national basis from London to Inverness. Operating with a fleet of more than 60 locomotives, 200 wagons, 180 train crew and 60 staff, we plan and deliver safe and reliable services daily, focusing on right time departures, right time arrivals and achieving industry leading standards.

The opportunity

  • Play a key role in planning and delivering our services, identifying and supporting continuous improvement in safety and operational aspects of our performance.
  • Supporting and developing strategic planning, operational performance and efficiency, train crew communication and engagement.

This two-year programme offers graduates the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of our rail business - strategic planning, control, resourcing and performance, service delivery, standards and training, and health and safety compliance.

The role would support process and performance transformation, the creation of a data driven culture and embedding strategic planning processes. It will offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience with an operational railway environment, line management skills and build an understanding of the key drivers and standards within the rail and logistics industries, as well as how all these fit with our core mission to deliver the requirements of the NDA group.

Throughout your two-year journey on the NDA group graduate programme you will be employed by Energus whilst being supported by an industry leading sponsoring organisation.

At the end of your two-year programme, you will be supported in securing a role with the NDA group.
