Raw Materials Sampling Controller

We are looking for a motivated Sampling Controller with a great eye for detail to manage and report quality and performance to the wider business.

‍Main duties and responsibilities

• Support the role of the Stores Manager when required
• Create and maintain a sampling schedule inline with business requirements
• Liaise with Raw Material Manager and the Backyard Supervisor to organise and manage collection of own product at Moulton Bulb Company site and collection of product off-site on a predefined timescale
• All regular and adhoc samples to be processed and recorded daily on the appropriate software platform
• Report results of sampling and trends in a structured consistent format in the daily Raw Material/Grader Meeting
• Create and deliver sample reports for use by Procurement in grower reviews
• Upload sample reports onto the grading plan and communicating with the Grader team and other stakeholders with the business to allow informed decisions on how and when to grade crops and the potential impacts of the crop on shelf life and customer complaints
• Regularly inform the technical team and wider teams across the business about the quality of onions in storage
• Liaise with the technical team to understand the quality performance of onion quality in shelf life and customer complaints
• Create and maintain store plans in conjunction with tableau
• Undertake any other duties as requested by your manager to meet the needs of the business

Imported onion quality monitoring: May to August (Seasonal)

• Monitor, record and communicate to the management the quality of imported onions from store at Moulton Bulb Company site

Person Specification

• Excellent organisational and communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels within the business
• Previous experience of sampling onions would be desirable but full training will be provided
• Good Numeracy skills
• Greenlight knowledge desirable
• Weekend work may be required during peak times

Physical Demands

• Good sense of balance
• Driving Licence (mandatory)
• Good dexterity (eye-hand-foot coordination)
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
• Ability to working in varying temperatures (depending upon season)
