R&D Engineer / Physicist, Cambridge, Salary: £30,000 - £50,000, Benefits: Extensive
A fantastic opportunity for an applied Physicist / Research Engineer has arisen at a Cambridge-based, cutting edge, leading product development company whose innovative technology is reshaping the medical, life science, environmental and industrial sectors.
The R&D Engineer / Physicist will join the research and product development team responsible for researching, designing and development of the next generation of state-of-the-art fluid control products and technologies. This position is open to recent Physics or Engineering PhD candidates or Masters graduates with a couple of years' experience.You will have the freedom to explore the novel application of interesting physical principles (e.g. piezoelectricity, non-linear acoustics, resonant mechanics, etc). In doing so, you will help to bring a new generation of unique and disruptive products to the market. You will work on everything from early-stage concept generation, evaluation, and prototyping, through to the design and transfer of new products to commercial launch.

Requirements for R&D Engineer / Physicist
* A PhD or Masters in applied Physics or Engineering.
* Recent and relevant experience working as a research scientist / R&D Engineer / Physicist exploring new technologies and concept generation, including proof of concept.
* Strong experimental and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of mechanics, fluidics, and acoustics.
* Solid understanding of physical principles and their application to practical systems.
* Good practical skills, and the ability to devise, set up and run tests in the lab.
* Curiosity, imagination and creativity.
* Experience working with piezoelectric devices beneficial.
* Python or Matlab knowledge beneficial.
* Experience with multiphysics FEA software (e.g. COMSOL)
