Job description

Do you have experience within a Logistics or Supply Chain environment? Do you consider yourself an asset to a busy team? Are you based in or around Canterbury?

We have a temporary role available within William Harvey Hospital. This role is ideal for someone with the ability to work independently and strong customer service, IT and data Entry skills.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a stock management department within the NHS, where accuracy and consistency is compulsory.

Role:Receipt and Distribution Operative

Location: 100% site based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital

Rate: £11.45ph Mon-Fri, £12.45ph Weekends and £22.90ph on Bank Holidays

Contract length: 6 months +

Shift Patterns: Full time hours, varied days on rota basis

Start: ASAP but dependent upon the passing of compliance checks (1-2 weeks)

Responsibilities:

  • Receipt, checking and Distribution of goods, complying with procurement procedures
  • The use of manual handling equipment to move heavy loads
  • Prioritising and delivering temperature controlled items, and urgent items within agreed time frames
  • Managing own workload
  • Providing general office support as necessary
  • Process and file all relevant paperwork accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all relevant suppliers procedures
  • Processing all returns of goods and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Using the Purchasing and Finance IT System (the System) for online order, distribution and enquiries
  • To use the System to identify correct delivery locations to problem solve Receipt and delivery issues
  • Ensuring compliance with all appropriate Mandatory Training, including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations for receipt, storage, distribution and put away of goods

Essential requirements:

  • Good IT literacy and able to use a computer
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks independently
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Comfortable handling heavy and bulky items and conducting Manual Handling
  • Minimum of GCSE C in English and Maths

Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience within a Supply Chain or Stores environment
  • Previous experience within a Logistics environment
  • Data Entry skills and experience
