Job description

Contract: Permanent, part time 4 days (30 hours) per week
Salary: £21,255 - £23,806 FTE per annum (pro rata for part time)
Location: Radcliffe, Greater Manchester M26 1NQ
Closing date: Sunday 28 January 2024
Interview date: 6 & 7 February 2024
We are recruiting a Reception & Administration Assistant for our team at our Rehoming, advice & behaviour unit in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, to ensure a warm, friendly welcome, a positive memorable visitor experience and a first-class administration support service!
We’ve just launched a new and exciting national Rehoming & Fostering team structure to support our aim of ensuring every pet enjoys a healthy life in a happy home. You’ll be joining a team who strive to be the best versions of themselves, so that they can do the best for the pets who need our help.

More about the role

Based in our high street location since 2018, we are perfectly placed to support our local community and surrounding areas. Our foster-based care and Home Direct scheme ensures animals find loving homes without the stress of kennels. This means that we do not usually have pets staying onsite overnight and our roles may not include daily pet care, but no two days are ever the same.
As the Receptionist and Administration Assistant, you will be the backbone of the Centre providing important administration support to ensure all key processes are delivered in a professional and efficient way and ensure our visitors have a positive, memorable experience. Often, you will be the first person our fantastic clients see, so making a great first impression is really important.
Your working day will be from 08:30 until 17:00 on a rota including weekends and bank holidays.
If you excel in an environment where you can see the difference you make every day, then this is the role for you. Interested? Then apply and let’s work together to see if this is the role for you.

About you

You will be a good communicator and have experience of working for a client facing a role in a fast-paced and changing environment. You should really enjoy working with and supporting people, with the ability to put people at ease and have pride in ensuring you offer great client and colleague experience.
You will have a client focused, inclusive approach, have a positive mindset and be competent at reading and adapting to people or the situation. In addition, you will be able to work in an emotionally charged environment and have excellent ‘bounce back ability’ and resilience. You will be emotionally intelligent, showing empathy and knowing how to support clients and colleagues.
You will have a problem-solving mindset, be organised, and have an eye for detail as the handling of cash and maintenance of office systems forms a key part of this role. You will enjoy seeing tasks through to conclusion and be keen to get involved with new tasks as and when possible. Working in a diverse environment which requires you to be well organised but also able to re-prioritise or ‘spin many plates’ is motivating to you.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Experience in delivering high level reception service in a fast paced and often emotional environment.
  • Good standard of verbal and written communication.
  • Experience of dealing with the public, managing enquiries by phone, email enquiries and face-to-face.
  • Strong administration skills, including the use of computerised systems.
  • Experience of handling and managing cash and spreadsheets.
  • Current full driving licence.
It would be great (but not essential) if you also had:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Customer Care
  • Experience of working in a similar role or working in a pet welfare role/environment.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience of working with the public
  • Experience of public speaking
  • An understanding for the voluntary sector
  • Experience of working in a team and mentoring others
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues.
How to apply

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response.
