Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Midwifery Management team in the role of Lead Midwife for Workforce and Retention – Perinatal Services.
The post holder will have oversight of the Recruitment and Retention strategies of both substantive and temporary staff within UCLH Perinatal services including Maternity and Neonatal staff.
They will have line management responsibility for the Clinical Practice Facilitators who have oversight of Internationally Educated Midwives and Maternity Support Worker development.
The post holder will work closely with the Maternity and Neonatal Matrons, Lead Midwife for Education and Professional Midwifery/ Nurse Advocates to promote retention within the maternity and neonatal workforce. They will be responsible for developing and maintain a comprehensive retention and recruitment strategy at local and Trust level.
This role will enhance supernumerary support to Internationally Educated Midwives/ Nurses and return to practice learners. They will work closely with the Maternity Education Team to deliver our education and training agenda, with specific responsibility for our supporting the development of our maternity support workers.
The successful candidate will promote an environment that encourages learning and sustains the personal and professional development of staff through career conversations, career development initiatives and support. They will be integral to the ongoing development of the career hub within the Trust and the benefits this brings in supporting staff to grow and flourish.
The post holder, in conjunction with the Midwifery Management team, will ensure the provision of a safe 24 hour midwifery service within the Maternity Unit and contribute to the Midwifery Manager on call rota.

Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is the only level 3 unit in north central London (level 3 units provide specialist care for sickest and most premature babies).
