Job description

The role You will work with one or more Faculties to optimise the quality and readiness of the University’s impact submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF), taking a lead role in supporting academics producing impact case studies. You will maintain an expert knowledge of evidencing, writing, and curating compelling case studies that showcase the impact of the University’s research, and adhere to REF guidelines. The role involves working closely with academics to evaluate, structure and refine the narratives, assisting with the identification and incorporation of evidence to show the reach and significance of their impact. This role is open ended with fixed funding until 29th February 2028. What will you be doing? Lead the editorial development of a portfolio of impact case studies for REF, drafting and editing them in collaboration with academic colleagues. Identifying which case studies will benefit most from editorial and evidencing input. Monitor and maintain records and develop analyses of the impact pipeline to inform the University’s planning. Identify gaps in impact evidence; collating, evaluating and curating sources of evidence. Develop an expert knowledge of impact elements of the Research Excellence Framework (REF), to provide expert advice and guidance to academics and colleagues across the Division You should apply if We are looking for a great storyteller and a forensic investigator, a project manager and a diplomat! You will have a track record of relevant experience, demonstrating knowledge of editorial development, presenting complex information and excellent copywriting skills. You should be able to provide persuasive guidance to groups and individuals, and work with people at all levels of seniority. This role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously and solving problems with initiative and creativity. Finally, you will be finding evidence of research impact and analysing quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources, to provide insight, advice, and compelling narratives for our academics.
