Team Manager/Support Worker - 10 hours Team Leader / 20 hours Support Work
Working pattern:
8.00am – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday (10-hour shift)
Pay per hour:
Support Worker: (8.00am – 6.00pm) Weekday = £14.00
Team Leader: (8.00am – 6.00pm) Weekday = £18.00
I’m a 26-year-old young lady with cerebral palsy. I have my own adapted property in Hendy where I live with my family. I am a wheelchair user and hoisted for all transfers. I enjoy the company of others and have a good sense of humour. I would like to go out into the community, to access events such as the cinema, bowling, shopping etc.
I have complex physical difficulties and receive weekly input from an occupational therapist. I’m unable to communicate verbally but have developed ways of getting my needs met. I would like my support workers to be warm, patient and reliable, to encourage and support me to access all opportunities and help me to maximise my quality of life. You will play a key part in helping to develop my day-to-day activities.
As a Team Leader, you will have the abilities to lead my support team by being organised at managing paperwork, ensuring staff rotas are up to date alongside supervising and appraising the care team. You will be professional when communicating with my therapists and family members and advocate on my behalf. You will be expected to contribute to plans and risk assessments necessary for safe care to be delivered ensuring these are up to date and reviewed on time. You will be an integral part of the support team, also working 20 hours a week as a support worker. There may be occasions where you need to work at short notice to cover sickness absence or annual leave of other support workers. As the team leader you will have effective communication skills and be able to converse with me, my family and case manager when required.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
To join me as a Support Worker/Team Leader you will need to: -
• Be able to drive and have use of a car.
• Drive the family vehicle.
• Have experience of supporting a person with a birth injury such as cerebral
palsy.
• Enjoy working as part of a team.
This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check.
Full induction and training will be provided.
