Adult Case Worker

Location: Broadland

Contract: 36-month contract

Work Pattern: 20 hours per week

Salary: £24-26,000 FTE

Job Purpose

Pandora Project is a specialist domestic abuse charity providing support and advice to women and children who are affected by current or historic domestic abuse. The purpose of the Adult Case Worker role is to provide a supportive and confidential service to women requiring emergency refuge accommodation, as part of Pandora. Project’s refuge team.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide appropriate one-to-one support to women living in refuge.
  • Assess the needs of clients in order to promote their well-being and safety.
  • Offer emotional support to all clients and practical support where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnership working with agencies.
  • Hold a strong commitment to safeguarding.
  • To participate in the out-of-hours on-call system.
  • Run ‘Stay and Play’ sessions with the Family Case Worker.
  • To provide transitional move-on support to clients moving out of refuge.
  • To offer crisis and safety planning by phone to clients coming into refuge.
  • To keep accurate client records up to date using a secure online client record system.
  • Take part in occasional fundraising activities.
  • Attend external meetings where necessary.
  • To be an ambassador for Pandora Project.

General Responsibilities

Provide 1-1 support and group work to women living in refuge.

  • To work as part of a team.
  • Undertake risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Report any problems/difficulties/complaints to the line manager and participate in any follow up investigations as required.
  • Ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and to ensure that professional boundaries are observed when working with clients, staff and external bodies.
  • Be committed as part of the team to providing an excellent level of support to clients.
  • Attend all meetings or training as requested by the line manager.
  • Attend monthly supervision with line manager.
  • Be accountable for and review own practice using supervision and other opportunities for professional development.
  • To provide support as required to colleagues, including the induction of new staff and volunteers in conjunction with your line manager’s requests.
  • Ensure that sensitive information complies with GDPR.
  • Work in line with Pandora Project’s policies and procedures

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Will be a qualified IDVA or willing to work towards the qualification.
  • Will have two years’ experience of working with victims of domestic abuse.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to respond calmy and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a supportive role whilst withholding professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Non-judgmental, reliable and compassionate.
  • Ability to operate
  • Record and maintain administrative systems, including Office 365.
  •  Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  •  Ability to prioritise workload.
  • An understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality. ·
  • Hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle.

This service is run by women for women and is therefore restricted to female applicants under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1. Section 7(2) e of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 apply. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
