Job description

Regional Technical Surveyor
Scotland (remote with travel)
Up to £55,000 DOE + car allowance
Pertemps are recruiting a Regional Technical Surveyor to work with their clients, a claims assistance service. The role is home based, covering Scotland as a region so will require travel throughout the country.
You will be required to assess damage for insurance claims, in order to determine whether claims should be accepted or declined. You will also be required to provide technical support for building damage aspects of claims and support to the customer service team.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site assessments to validate claims and directly communicate decisions to Policyholders/Authorised Persons
  • Evaluate building claims using Surveyor reports, providing clear explanations for any denial and offering first-stage support for FOS complaints
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, coordinate Surveyor site visits, and liaise with approved Contractors for Contract variations and Interim Payments
  • Provide technical support within the Surveying Team on repairs, methodology, and pathology
  • Validate and discuss customer invoices using software to ensure fair costs and policy compliance
  • Visit large loss claims, produce accurate reports and undertake joint site visits with Large Loss/Complex Claim Handlers
  • Audit Surveyor Network and Contractors, identifying discrepancies and variations throughout the claim journey
  • Manage progress and updates for Buildings Insurance claims, including reserves, cash settlements, and contractor instructions
  • Undertake flexible tasks aligned with company values, responding effectively during surges.

About You:
  • HNC qualification in surveying (or similar)
  • Estimating/Surveying experience within insurance is essential
  • Understanding of estimating software
  • Secondary education with qualifications in Maths and English
  • Minimum 5 years construction experience (trade background will be considered)
  • Demonstrable numeracy skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • PC literate
  • Strong administration skills
